FourSquare — This social networking app allows people to “check in” to places that they’ve visited in their local city. “Checking in” allows users to tell their friends which establishments they’ve been visiting (whether it’s a local bar, coffee shop, pizza parlor, movie theater, etc…) and earn badges for visiting different places around town. In addition, if you become the person in your town to “check in” the most at certain establishments, you become the Mayor of that business. Now, this all may sound kind of gimmicky until you check out the list of benefits that Mayors can receive at certain businesses. For example, at Bad Decisions in Baltimore you can receive a free flaming shot for every 10th visit. Likewise, the Mayor of Ledo Pizza in Baltimore gets a free fountain soda with any purchase every time they come in and the Mayor of TeaVolve gets one free entree.

Generally, the first step in finding something to post on this site for me is to aimlessly wander around the Internet. During my quest to find the best time wasting websites available, if I see something I like, I bookmark it in my ‘drafts’ folder and store it there to write about later. The problem with this is that some days are slower than others, and what I find interesting one day I may find dreadfully boring the next.
