As the year is quickly drawing to a close and many companies are getting ready to hand out their bonus checks, employees start to wonder just exactly what they are worth.  Last year, working as graphic designer for a local free advertising newspaper, my bonus check came out to $14.32 after taxes.  With the help of PayScale.com, I now know that was in the lower 1% of all Graphic Designers across the state of Maryland.  Thanks again, assholes!  I got more than that from my great aunt on my fifth birthday!

PayScale.com is good at telling you things other than telling you how badly you got screwed over though.  They show you how your salary, bonuses, vacation, and benefits compare to other people in your area and particular field.  So, this holiday season, be sure to look that gift horse in the mouth and compare your self-worth at PayScale.com
